17-Lb Bony Pit Bull Experiences Snuggling and the Joy of a Full Belly

Reese was found on the streets, a tiny, emaciated pit bull whose survival seemed almost impossible. Her frail body was nothing but skin and bones, and every bone in her little frame was visible. How could anyone allow such cruelty to happen? Who could do this to such a defenseless dog?

Luckily, Animal Control was notified, and Jersey Pits, a local rescue organization, was contacted to try and save her. A heart-wrenching photo of Reese sleeping in the back seat of a car circulated, moving everyone who saw it to tears.

Reese was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from her new human friends, even though she was too weak to lift her head. Her story was heartbreaking, but it was also clear that this dog had an abundance of love to give. No animal should suffer like Reese did, but her gentle, loving nature made her stand out even more.

With the help of her medical team, Reese underwent the surgeries necessary for her recovery. Though it was a slow process, Reese showed signs of improvement. After just one week in the hospital, she was able to stand briefly, a small victory but an important one!

A few weeks later, Reese was walking on her own, and even learned to sit and wag her tail as she was instructed. She was discharged after a month and sent to her medical foster home to continue her recovery.

Reese’s foster mother, Ryn, shared how Reese was frightened during the car ride to her new home, but once she arrived, she seemed to come alive. She quickly realized she was safe and began playing with toys, excited to finally be in a place where she was loved and cared for.

In no time, Reese transformed into a “real dog.” She would eagerly jump onto the couch, demanding attention, and thrived with daily walks. Reese’s world expanded as she explored the big universe outside, full of new experiences.

Ryn described how each morning she had to untie Reese’s collar, a significant milestone showing that Reese was gaining weight and regaining her health. Reese was no longer just surviving; she was flourishing.

Now, Reese is gaining strength every day and will soon be available for adoption. Anyone who meets her believes she would make a wonderful addition to any family. We’re so grateful that Reese was rescued in time and given a second chance at life. A huge thank you to the animal heroes who never gave up on her!
