One such dog, a stray named Sally, has found a regular spot where she can get her nightly meal—and it’s at a local Subway sandwich shop.
TikTok user Gio, who works at the Subway store in Mexico, introduced the world to “Subway Sally” in a viral video. Every evening, Sally visits the shop to ask for food, and the staff is always happy to oblige. Gio filmed a video where he serves Sally a plate of cold sliced turkey and bacon, which the hungry dog eagerly devours.
Gio mentioned in the TikTok video, “We always feed her,” showing how the staff has become accustomed to their loyal visitor. Sally knows exactly where to go for her supper, and she seems to love the treats she gets. But there’s a twist—if the staff takes too long to serve her, Sally will go to the nearby Taco Bell for her dinner instead!
The video quickly gained traction, with over 3 million views on TikTok, and viewers were curious about Sally’s situation. Some noticed that Sally appeared well-groomed and wondered if she was really a stray. In a follow-up video, Gio explained that Sally is indeed a stray, but she’s well cared for by a “flower woman” who lives next door and regularly grooms her.
Gio also clarified why he hasn’t brought Sally to a shelter. The closest one is 20 miles away, and unfortunately, it’s a high-kill shelter, which makes him hesitant to take her there. People in the community have asked Gio why he doesn’t adopt Sally himself, but Gio explained that he already has five cats and lives in a low-income area where it’s hard to find anyone who could take care of her.
“The community I live in is very poor,” Gio said in a third video. “A lot of people can’t afford pet food, and there are a lot of strays in our town.”
Despite this, it seems Sally isn’t in a rush to be adopted. Gio commented that several people have tried to take her in, but she prefers to stay in her familiar spot. “I think she has a regular place to sleep and may even be taking care of puppies,” he said.
