Heartbreaking Discovery: Dog and Her Nine Puppies Abandoned in Parking Lot

It’s a sad reality that animal cruelty happens every day, and stories like this one break our hearts. The thought of innocent creatures being discarded without care or concern is both shocking and devastating. Each time we come across news like this, we can’t help but ask: How can someone be so heartless?

On April 26, a 5-year-old boxer mix named Dory and her nine two-week-old puppies were abandoned in a church parking lot in Abilene, Texas. The shocking discovery quickly went viral, and a local animal sanctuary, Paw Angel Animal Rescue, stepped in to help.

Upon seeing a photo of the abandoned family posted on Facebook, the shelter immediately reached out for assistance. The post read, “Dumped in the parking lot of a church in Abilene. All of the rescues are totally filled. Foster needed urgently.” Within moments, two volunteers from Paw Angel were on their way to rescue the dogs.

Misty Boerger, one of the volunteers who rescued the family, shared her reaction with local news station KTXS12: “I saw the photo and it just broke my heart, so I phoned Angel and we went and rescued the dogs.”

Angel Urban, the other volunteer who helped, also expressed her disbelief: “I simply don’t understand how someone could leave mama and two-week-old infants.”

When they found Dory, she was in a poor condition. “We noticed a number of open and draining sores on her,” said Urban. Dory’s wounds were worsened by the fact that one of her puppies, Peach, had a throat tumor and tragically had to be euthanized.

Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, Dory and her eight surviving puppies are now healthy and safe, thanks to the quick action of the rescue team. Paw Angel Animal Rescue has provided them with a new, secure space, and the puppies are growing strong and ready for adoption.

Last week, the organization shared a heartwarming photo of three of the puppies snuggling together, and the news that they had a new 10-foot by 10-foot kennel to call home for now. The organization wrote, “Eight puppies will begin their lives in a new kennel. They’ll outgrow it in a few weeks, but for now, they’re snug and safe, out of direct heat, and we’ll adore them.”

While Dory and her pups are finally safe and loved, their story serves as a painful reminder of the cruelty many animals endure. Thankfully, organizations like Paw Angel Animal Rescue are there to step in and give them a second chance at life, filled with love and care.
