In Santssimo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a kind-hearted person noticed a dog lying on the ground, clearly in desperate need of help.
The poor dog had been wandering the streets, suffering with an agonizingly swollen face, and was unable to eat due to her severe pain. The Samaritan did what they could to help by chaining her to a fence to prevent her from wandering off and tried to offer food, but the dog was too sick to eat.
Randel Silva, a local dog rescuer, was informed of the dog’s situation and immediately stepped in to assist. The dog, now named Jade, was taken to the vet for further evaluation.
Jade’s condition was heartbreaking. She appeared to have been beaten, with her face bloated and swollen, her body in pain, and she was suffering from acute anemia and dehydration.
The vet team began treating her with antibiotics and provided round-the-clock care. Slowly but surely, Jade began to improve. She was able to eat on her own, and the swelling in her face started to subside.
Now, Jade is a different dog. She’s lively, alert, and full of energy, her spirit restored. She will continue to be cared for by the rescue team until she is fully recovered and ready to find her forever home.
