Precious, a sweet chihuahua puppy, was born with a condition that set her apart from her littermates. Right from the start, her owners noticed something unusual—her head appeared larger than the other puppies, but they dismissed it as nothing serious. As time passed, they began to realize that there was something wrong with her eyes. Precious was born without pupils, leaving her unable to see.
Instead of seeking help, her owners decided that the best course of action was to get rid of her. They felt that no one would want to adopt a puppy like her and concluded that she didn’t deserve a chance at life. Precious, just days old, was left to face the cruel reality of being sacrificed before even experiencing the love and comfort of a home.
A Savior Comes in Time
Fortunately, news of Precious’s grim fate reached the ears of Dina Sánchez Lemus, a compassionate woman who couldn’t bear the thought of this innocent puppy being put down. Dina was heartbroken when she heard that the owners planned to euthanize Precious just because of her disability.
“I was told that the dog had no eyes and a bigger skull than normal, and they were going to put her down because they believed she would just ‘suffer,'” Dina explained.
Dina, who had always believed that every animal deserves love, immediately stepped in to save Precious. She implored the owners to let her take the dog, offering her a chance at life, and reassured them that she would care for her and give her the happiness she deserved.
Dina also adopted another of the puppies from the litter, and the two chihuahuas went home with her, where they would be safe and loved.
A New Beginning for Precious
Precious’s early days in her new home weren’t easy. The lack of sight meant that she had difficulty walking and was constantly bumping into furniture and walls. However, Dina was patient and understanding, providing Precious with all the love and support she needed. Over time, the little chihuahua began to understand her surroundings and grow more confident.
“She may have challenges, but just like any other pet, she deserves happiness,” Dina shared. “Puppies with impairments are often rejected, but with the right person, they can live full, joyful lives.”
Now, Precious is a happy, energetic puppy, no longer hindered by the obstacles she once faced. While she may still have difficulties navigating the world, she’s surrounded by the care and support that allow her to thrive.
